Bedford Remembers Tyler

Bedford remembers Tyler, our brave student who lost his battle against Cancer on 30th November 2017. Students, staff and members of Tyler’s family gathered at a memorial service in the school grounds yesterday where a tree in memory of Tyler was planted. We also gathered Tyler’s ribbons which were tied to the school railings by Bedford students and staff at the time of his passing and created a mosaic picture as a fitting tribute to him.

In memory of Tyler we are selling a Recipe Calendar for £5 and all the money raised will be donated to two of Tyler’s favourite charities; Superjosh and Max In A Million – which both support children with tumours and their families.  The Calendar can be bought from school or from Cannings Newsagents in Leigh so please support this worthy cause by buying a calendar.

Mrs Everitt, Food Technology Teacher explains: “Tyler was a great foodie and was often photographed eating his favourite dish, Spaghetti Carbonara. We all wanted to do something to pay tribute to Tyler, which is how the calendar came about. We asked students to be as creative as possible with their ideas and we were overwhelmed with the response.”

A big thank you to former Bedford student and chef at Manchester’s Hotel Indigo, Morgan Mole, who came back to school to judge the entries and support with cooking the food; Morrisons Manufacturing, our school business partner, for providing the food for the recipes to be made (and we were delighted to donate the cooked food to the Homeless Support Project in Leigh); and finally North Star Digital for producing and donating the calendar.
