Congratulations to Year 11 student Meg Boydell for being selected to represent England in their Under 17’s team.
Meg, who started playing football around the age of 3 and then professionally from the age of 9 was scouted to play internationally in the UEFA Women’s U17’s European Cup tournament, which took place from the 27th April to the 15th May in the Czech Republic.
After hearing news of her selection, Meg was “overwhelmed and excited” to play along other girls her age from different countries and stated “it will be great to learn new skills that may benefit me and my future career in football.”
To date, Meg has trained and played matches for England for one year and in this time has won qualifying matches against Germany and Poland. In order to advance out of the group stages in these European Championships, England will have to play and win five matches against the likes of Holland, The Republic of Ireland and Norway to name a few.
